Title: The Twenty-One Balloons
Author: William Péne du Bois
Rating: 10
Age Recommendation: 10+
I. Love. This. Book. Any 10-12 even 14 year old (like me) is bound to love this book. The illustrations are awesome, and done by none other than the author, so it is exactly as the author envisioned everything in his head! Wow! Professor William Waterman Sherman is trying to cross the ocean in his balloon. He failed. A seagull popped his balloon and he crashed on the island of Krakatoa. He discovers its many secrets… Near the end it is kind of intense, SPOILER ALERT: Krakatoa explodes. Kablooie. Boom.
Title: Hearts of Fire
Author: Voice of the Martyrs
Rating: 9.5
Age Recommendation: 14+
Man, this was a hard one to read, but so worth it. It is terrible what our brothers and sisters in Christ have to deal with. This book really makes you see how many countries hate Christians. But those Christians don’t give up their faith, no matter what people do to them. This book has stories of 8 different Christian women who wouldn’t give up. If you’re feeling brave and looking for an inspiring true story (or 8) this is your book.
Well, I hope I’ve given you your next read!
Ooo I read Hearts of Fire last year. It was hard to read of the sufferings of other Christiand, but so encouraging as well.
